STEPS TO WORK TOWARDS ADOPTING A HORSE FROM ALL4HOOVESWA EQUINE RESCUE SANCTUARY INC.
1. Email your interest
2. We email you an “Expression of Interest” form
3. You fill the form in and email it back to us
4. We then do background and welfare checks
5. If there is a horse that may suit you, or you suit them, we progress to arrange an in-person viewing (everyone needs to do an in-person viewing)
6. After the in-person viewing, and we see you are a good fit for the horse and the horse is a good fit for you, we progress to the adoption process
7. Adoption forms will be sent to you with extra details needed, as well as the adoption fee details.
8. Once these forms have been received and the adoption fee has been paid, we will arrange for the collection of the horse or transport.
NOTES:
(Every horse is adopted under a contract)
THE ADOPTER AGREES TO COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING:
1. You will always have the horse’s best interest at heart and will provide adequate feed, water, fencing, and shelter to the conditions of the Western Australian Animal Welfare Act 2002 and meet Council bylaws.
2. You will provide medical treatment immediately should the horse injure itself or fall ill.
3. You will provide hoof care every 4-6 weeks, worming every 6-8 weeks OR AS NEEDED, dental care every 12 months, and keeping the horse immunized (When/if required).
4. You will provide All4hoovesWA with a yearly vet report, when the horse has had its teeth done, which will state the horse’s condition and health. (This report must include a description of the horse, including brands and markings, and be signed by your vet.)
5. You will provide the animal with a companion (remembering they are a herd animal).
6. You will provide love and attention to encourage a bond between yourself and the horse/pony.
7. You will email All4hoovesWA updated photos of the horse every 3-6 months on all4hooveswa@gmail.com (All4hoovesWA will request visits as stated in the contract).
8. You will never use the horse for breeding.
9. If, for any reason, you can no longer keep the horse, you will return it to All4hoovesWA.
Note: that dumping the horse on us if it falls ill is not an acceptable excuse, and you will still be liable for vet costs if the animal is sick or injured upon being returned.
10. If the horse is to receive a new microchip, we ask that you send us an updated email with the details so we can update this on our system also.
(Horses that come through our center are on our records for life. Updated information allows us to keep track of them.
11. If the horse falls ill and needs to be put to sleep, we ask this to be done by a qualified vet and a detailed report sent to us with the vet’s details and the reason for death.
ALL4HOOVESWA AGREES TO THE FOLLOWING
1. We can provide a loyal friend.
2. We will always have the horse’s best interests at heart and will help you with any information, advice, or help when needed. We are just an email or phone call away, all4hooveswa@gmail.com 0477 088 141
3. We will tell you everything we know about the horse - remember that it is a rescue animal and that we may not have all the history of the animal.
4. We cannot guarantee anything with horses/ponies, because they can work well with some people and not with others. They can fall ill easily and can become temperamental. However, we do guarantee that we will provide advice, information, and assistance when needed, and that we will help to the best of our ability with any problems you may encounter.
5. We will provide you with a complete write-up of what the horse has been through with us and any medical treatment that was provided whilst in our care.
You understand that a member of All4hoovesWA may inspect your premises pre-adoption, to ensure the animal will be paddocked in safe and secure surroundings, and will also carry out follow-up visits.
You also understand that if your situation changes and you are unable to keep said horse/pony, All4hoovesWA will take the horse/pony back for rehoming.
You agree to contact All4hoovesWA immediately if any problems should arise, including the horse/s becoming lost or stolen, or if you have any health or behavior concerns.
Upon Adopter’s breach of any term of this Agreement, or upon Adopter’s involvement with any humane society or animal control agency that results in a warning or citation for the inhumane treatment of any animal, ALL4HOOVESWA may enter onto the premises and into the facilities where the adopted equine is being kept and may retake possession of the adopted equine. In the event any term of this agreement is breached, the Adopter shall not be entitled to any reimbursement of any funds whatsoever directly or indirectly related to the Adopter’s possession of the adopted equine.
